Woman doesn't want ex husband in the house

by · Leinster Leader

A woman told a court sitting she does not want her ex-husband in the house.

She came before Naas District Court seeking protection under family law legislation.

The couple divorced in an eastern European country and the woman alleged that there was a history of abuse towards the children.

The woman said there was a verbal agreement that she and the children would stay in the house, which would be sold when the children are adults.

The man, who did not attend the hearing and was unrepresented, wants to move back in and she was opposed to this.

“I don’t want him in the house,” she said, alleging he said he would replace the lock.

Judge Miriam Walsh said the man is entitled to go to the dwelling to see the children.

The judge said she would not grant a barring order but would grant a protection order.

The judge said she would not exclude the man from the house.

She advised that if he abused her or the children the woman can call the gardaí.
