Man in court in Naas over investigation into assault of woman in Newbridge

A man is due in Naas District Court this morning in connection with an incident in Newbridge in which a woman was seriously injured. 

A woman was found unresponsive in St Conleth's car park off Main Street shortly after 8am on December 5 last.

The woman was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A Garda statement said this morning: Gardaí investigating the assault which occurred at St. Conleth's car park, Newbridge, Co. Kildare between 11pm on Tuesday 3rd and approximately 8.15am on Wednesday 4th December 2024 have charged a man in relation to this incident.

"The man (20s) is expected to appear before a special sitting of Naas District Court this morning, Saturday 14th December 2024..."

An incident room was established at Newbridge Garda Station, and an SIO (Senior Investigating Officer) was appointed.
 
Investigating Gardaí also appealed to the public for information: anyone present in the area of St Conleth's Car Park, of main street, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, between 11pm on Tuesday 3rd and 8.15am on Wednesday 4th December 2024, and who may have information regarding this incident, was asked to make contact with the Gardaí.

People with mobile phone or dash cam footage were also asked to make this available.
