Noah’s Ark worth a visit this Christmas

by Niamh O'Donoghue · Leinster LeaderAs the nights draw darker, and the days get colder thoughts are turning to Christmas gifts and parties.
Whilst we are living in challenging times with the rising cost of living, todays savvy shoppers are embracing sustainable shopping and sourcing quality pieces at affordable prices.
Noah’s Ark, the KWWSPCA’s charity shop in Newbridge is a veritable treasure trove of preloved clothing, accessories and household items.
Shop manager, volunteer Ann Brown oversees stock control, co-ordinates the volunteer rota and runs the Noah’s Ark monthly online auction where often designer items are sold at very reasonable prices.
Opening times are 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Saturday and volunteers at the shop cover either a morning or afternoon shift.
Operating since 2013, the shop is well established and centrally located on the Cutlery Road, opposite the Whitewater Centre in Newbridge. Ann is passionate about sustainable fashion and the shop was featured on the RTE documentary presented by Roisin Murphy “Life in a Million Ads”, which highlighted the importance of the circular economy.
Some of the items donated still have tags on them and have never been worn. Unwanted gifts, still in their original packaging are often donated. It really is a case of popping in to see what you can find. There is a lovely atmosphere in the shop, the volunteers are always up for a chat, and you can browse to your hearts content.
All monies raised go directly to helping the animals in the care of the KWWSPCA.
When you purchase a preloved item from Noah’s Ark, you are not only supporting a great cause, you are also contributing to saving the environment by extending the life of the item and keeping it out of landfill. What’s not to love?
Ann is looking for volunteers to do back up shift cover, if interested please call 086 3413017.
