New bus route is needed to link two towns in Kildare

There has been a call for a new bus route linking the town of Naas and Celbridge - but no progress will be made until next year.

Cllr David Trost asked for information about the service to be provided by the Local Link bus service.

A Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting was told that Alan Kerry, Local Link manager, said that it is dealing with this year’s programme of works.

He added that the “progression of a Celbridge-Naas bus service as part of the Connecting Ireland plan will be considered in early 2025.”

He also said that local councillors will be updated “at that stage.”

The Connecting Ireland plan aims to improve mobility in rural areas by providing better connections between villages and towns by linking these areas with an enhanced regional network connecting cities and regional centres nationwide.
