Police make arrest after motorcyclist killed in A45 Coventry Road hit-and-run

The biker, who was in his 20s, was rushed to hospital where he sadly died hours later

A man has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run on a busy road. A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital following a collision on Coventry Road in Birmingham yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, September 18).

The man, who was in his 20s, sadly died a few hours later. Police announced this evening (Thursday, September 19) that a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, shortly after a police appeal was issued calling on the driver to 'do the right thing'.

He is currently being questioned by officers, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said. They added: "We've arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision on Coventry Road, Birmingham, yesterday afternoon (18 September).

"A 27-year-old man was this afternoon detained on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been taken into custody for questioning. A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision with a car at around 5.05pm.

"The man in his 20s died in hospital later that evening and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this terrible time." Police are appealing to anyone with information about the crash to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
