Fire in Erdington High Street building as public told to 'avoid area'
by Harry Leach, http://www.facebook.com/harrylleach/ · Birmingham LiveFirefighters rushed to a city high street after a blaze broke out in a mixed-use building in the early hours of this morning, November 30. The fire started at a building in Erdington High Street at around 12.34am.
Five fire crews tackled the blaze which had broken out at the premises near Newman Road junction. The mixed-use property is made up of flats with a commercial business on the ground floor.
West Midlands Fire Service warned locals to stay away from the area. It later confirmed that no injuries had been reported and that the blaze had been extinguished.

West Midlands Fire Service told BirminghamLive at 8.20am: "We were called to a mixed-use premises, with a commercial property below, and flats above, at 12.34am. We were at the scene on Erdington High Street, near Newman Road, by 12.36am.
"No injures were reported. The property of the fire is now out. We will remain at the scene to ventilate the property."
A spokesperson for the fire service wrote on social media platform X at 1.17am this morning: "We have five crews in attendance at a fire on High Street, Erdington involving a building fire. Please avoid the area, where possible."
