Cash-strapped Birmingham City Council lists properties for sale at auction tomorrow

Cash-strapped Birmingham city Council has listed properties for sale at auction tomorrow, Thursday, October 24. Retail units up for grabs include buildings which house a supermarket and taxi firm.

Bond Wolfe said there were two three-storey properties are on sale. They comprise two retail units on the ground floor and rooms above with a site area of around 84 square metres. The two freehold premises - located at 147 & 147a Dudley Road, Edgbaston - are on the market for offers of £315,000-plus. No.147 is being sold with an existing tenant and 147a is empty.

A different lot will see 74 Nursery Road, in Hockley, go under the hammer. The two-storey retail premises is being sold freehold subject to the existing tenancy. Bids of more than £160,000 plus are required.

But the council has withdrawn a two-storey retail premises at 359-361 Dudley Road. While freehold land and buildings at 289-297 Lichfield Road, in Aston, is also not being offered. Last month the council sold three of five properties listed at auction, which netted the authority £523,000.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: “This is another great opportunity to acquire a prominently located pair of properties with asset management potential. They are situated in a busy area with regular footfall. We are pleased to be able to offer these lots for Birmingham City Council as part of their programme of disposals via our online livestreamed auctions.” The Bond Wolfe auction will be held, from 8.30am, on Thursday, October 24.
