A suspect spat out '30 to 40' wraps of a class A drug when stopped by police, the force has said. Officers spotted a male suspected of dealing drugs on the junction of Linwood Road and Soho Road in Handsworth on Thursday (Oct 17).

West Midlands Police said he initially resisted arrest and was detained. Officers claimed the man then ended up 'spitting out' dozens of wraps of drugs.

He was then arrested. Soho Road Police posted about the incident on X.

The team said: "The team were out with the impact team today." Officers claimed they saw a male suspected of 'dealing on the junction of linwood road and Soho road. He was detained and after trying to resist arrest ended up spitting out 30-40 wraps of class A'.

They added: "Male arrested." A Public Space Protection Order which will cover Lozells, East Handsworth and Soho was introduced earlier this month.

The PSPO tackles four areas of concern including groups causing anti-social behaviour, those who are under the influence of intoxicating substances or alcohol while in a public place, obstructing footpaths or using bus shelters inappropriately. Breaking an order is a criminal offence, which can result in a fine of £80 or prosecution.
