Moment M6 driver escapes life-threatening injuries as lorry plunges

Dramatic images have emerged of a lorry that crashed and fell off a motorway bridge, landing on the embankment below. The incident occurred on the M6 near Warrington, Cheshire, at approximately 6:50pm on Monday, with photographs showing the wreckage split in two and lying on the motorway.

Recovery efforts were underway, with workers preparing to remove the damaged vehicle. Fortunately, the driver is not believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to a Cheshire Police spokesperson.

They stated: "Shortly after 6.50pm on Monday 30 September, police were called to reports of an incident on the M6 northbound at Thelwall Viaduct, between junction 20 and 21.

"Officers attended the scene and found a lorry had come off the carriageway and landed on the embankment below the bridge."

"The driver of the lorry is not believed to have suffered any life-threatening injuries."

As a result of the incident, two of the four northbound lanes remained closed between junctions 20 and 21, according to National Highways.
