More than 11,000 clips of bad and dangerous driving have been sent to police in the last year

Stopping in the middle of Spaghetti Junction, driving on the wrong side of the road. Nearly forcing a cyclist into the gutter and a speeding BMW putting lives at risk.

These are some of the 11,000 shocking examples of atrocious motoring in Birmingham which were sent in to West Midlands Police as part of Operation Snap. The initiative allows members of the public to submit dashcam footage of bad drivers to police. T

he force ramped up efforts to target dangerous drivers over the past year following a number of high-profile collisions in the city. During the last year, more than 11,000 clips have been submitted. I

In the vast majority of cases the culprits were given an education course, a fine and points on a driver’s licence. In the worst cases, they were served with a court summons.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster, who has invested £180,000 into the dashcam footage scheme, said: "I am committed to constant and unremitting action, to ensure that West Midlands Police and partners locally, regionally and nationally, are doing everything within their power to prevent and tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and reduce the number of people tragically and avoidably killed and seriously injured on our roads.”
