Three people are believed to have been 'detained in connection to Liam Payne's death'. Reports suggest investigators have detained the trio, who were said to be 'people of interest'.

The One Direction star fell to his death from a third floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. Now, almost a month on, two hotel workers were believed to be amongst those detained, according to ABC World News.

"Police detained two hotel workers accused of supplying the drugs and raided the home of a friend, also detained,” David Muir told the outlet, citing authorities. TMZ also reports that law enforcement sources in the Argentinian capital said raids were conducted on Tuesday night and officers were also believed to have searched the hotel lockers of the workers and reviewed security footage from the hotel.

The Mirror reports that it was understood the 'friend' officers were looking to speak with wasn't present during the raid. Detectives were also said to be looking into a Dove soap box that was found at the scene, with officials allegedly looking into the possibility that hotel employees smuggled drugs in the box to give them to the singer.

It's the second round of raids, with the hotel being raided last month. Liam's cause of death was due to head injuries he sustained during the fall, a post-mortem examination determined.

There have been claims the star fainted while he was on his balcony. Paula Varela said: "There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed."
