Redditch Thai massage parlour raided as woman arrested in human trafficking probe

A woman has been arrested after warrants were executed following concerns over modern day slavery in Redditch. The suspect, aged in her 40s, was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and money laundering during the warrant at a house in Dowlers Hill Crescent in Greenlands.

Two more warrants linked to the investigation were carried out at Thai massage premises – one in Market Place, Redditch, and one at Albion Street, in Cheltenham. No arrests were made at those locations.

Officers from Redditch Town Centre Team, supported by the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), Digital Media Investigation (DMI) team, the Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) and a dog handler carried out the warrants in Redditch. They are linked to a recent incident when a vulnerable female was found on her own at a massage parlour in Redditch.

Police seized mobile phones, paperwork / invoices, and a safe from the address in Dowlers Hill Crescent as part of the investigation. The woman was bailed pending further enquiries.

Police Sergeant David Roberts, of Redditch Town Centre Team, said: “We carried out these warrants following concerns over modern day slavery linked to a Thai massage premises in the town, and another one in Cheltenham.

“We arrested a woman, in her 40s, on suspicion of human trafficking and money laundering who has since been bailed pending further enquiries. The warrants show we take concerns over modern day slavery seriously and will always act upon concerns around criminal exploitation.”
