Resident Mohammed Iqbal described scenes unfolding on the road in the early hours of Monday. He said: "My son woke me up and said somebody had driven a car into your back garden.

"I got up and by the time I went outside the police had just arrived and were trying to resuscitate the guy lying at the front of my property."

Mr Iqbal said he has previously raised numerous concerns about the area with the police and other authorities but to no avail. In other unconnected incidents, he said: "There's fighting in the road, screaming, drugs.

"I have seen the same people time and time again, the same cars and I have told the police but nothing has been done about it."

Councillor Waseem Zaffar said when news of the killing broke: "People are reporting drug dealing out in the open. There's loud noise disturbances, rowing in the street, illegal parking.

"There's an oversaturation of vulnerable people being put in the area and it's all costing us dear."

The Police and Crime Commissioner is due to visit the road late this month.
