Police seize minibus used to transport children in Handsworth

A minibus used to transport children was seized by police after it was found to have no insurance . The blue and white Ford Transit was taken off the streets as part of a road safety operation.

It was being driven without having insurance in Handsworth, Birmingham, on Thursday, November 14. It formed part of a targeted operation in the area where a total of 16 vehicles were seized.

Two drivers were reported for having no insurance during the operation, while two other vehicles were seized for having no tax. There were numerous other traffic offences which police made reports on too.

The incident was shared by West Midlands Police's WMP Traffic on X/Twitter. Officers wrote: "RHPT were out in Handsworth on 14th November 2024 engaged in a Road Safety Op. This vehicle was transporting children without Insurance.

"16 vehicles seized & the drivers reported for No Insurance. Two vehicles seized no tax and numerous other traffic offences reported @DriveInsured."

Social media users reacted to the tweet. David Sprigg replied: "Shocking."

While Grace and Favour wrote: "No insurance with a bus-load of children!!!!! The driver needs to be hung out to dry, and so does their employer!!!"
