Birmingham police find machete next to suspect's sofa after visiting home

Officers visited the premises to arrest a man over criminal damage to a block of flats in Smith's Wood.
But they found the machete beside his sofa. The man was arrested on suspicion of both the original offence and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.
The suspect, who was not named, was later charged. The incident was revealed by officers from the Smith's Wood, Kingshurst & Castle Bromwich team on X/Twitter.

They wrote on the social media platform: "To end #Sceptre this week... The team attended an address to arrest a male for criminal damage to a flat block in #SmithsWood When there, a machete was found beside his sofa.
"He was further arrested for possessing an offensive weapon in private, for which he has been charged."
