Driver dies in Yarkhill crash near Hereford

A person has died after a collision involving a car and a lorry. The emergency services were called to the A4103 in Yarkhill, near Hereford and found both vehicles on fire.

The driver of the car suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver managed to get out of his cabin and was treated by paramedics.

He was taken to Hereford County Hospital for injuries not believed to be serious.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called at 1.10am to the A4103 in Yarkhill and sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene. A spokeswoman says: “On arrival, crews found both vehicles on fire.

“Sadly, it quickly became clear the driver of the car could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene. The driver of the lorry, a man, was already out of the vehicle when crews arrived.

“He was treated for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and conveyed to Hereford County Hospital.”
