Birmingham police ask for 'patience' after closing major city commuting route
by birminghammail.co.uk · Birmingham LiveThere is major traffic congestion after police closed a main commuting route. The city-bound section of the Bristol Road South is currently shut, causing gridlock, following an incident which is said to have taken place in the early hours of Monday (Nov 18).
Police and paramedics were called to Sainsbury's in Northfield from 1am. Several small evidence tents can be seen across the roadway and entrance to the supermarket.
Birmingham Police said: "A section of Bristol Road South A38 is currently closed between Frankley Beeches Road and Lockwood Road heading into the city while we respond to an incident. Motorists are urged to avoid the area. We thank you for your patience."

Traffic is being diverted away from the scene by officers, causing major disruption. Drivers are being urged to seek alternative routes.
Both West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "A38 Sir Herbert Austin Way Northbound closed, slow traffic due to police incident between Frankley Beeches Road (Black Horse Junction) and B4121 Bell Hill (The Isaac Tongue Junction)."
