'Take it to the truck' - anger as waste fly-tipped on same road as free recycling service
by birminghammail.co.uk · Birmingham LiveCouncillors issued a warning after waste was dumped on a road where a free recycling service was operating. Fridge freezers, bags of rubbish, cardboard and other detritus was fly-tipped on Roundlea Road in Bartley Green on Tuesday, November 5 - even as the council's mobile household waste centre truck visited that morning.
Couns Kerry Brewer and Bruce Lines urged people to bring their rubbish to the wagon or book a slot at a tip or bulk waste collection. Meanwhile, the eyesore has been left on the roadside.
They said: "Services like the MHWCs, when used properly, make life in Bartley Green better for everyone. That is contingent though, on people using the services properly and as appropriate.
"We appreciate the times the MHWCs come around aren’t always convenient for some people, however, this doesn’t mean you should fly-tip in the street. The rubbish dumped outside your house won't be collected by the MHWCs because they are not a door-to-door service.
"Unfortunately, fly-tipping like this is becoming more common in Bartley Green – if you can’t be there to take your rubbish to the MHWC wagon, then I’m afraid you need to book a slot at a static household waste centre or book a bulk waste collection."
The two trucks visit ten different locations in the city from 7.30am to 1.pm. Locals can dispose of household general waste and bulky items.
