Tragedy as dog killed in hit-and-run crash

A dog has sadly died after a hit-and-run crash in Tamworth last night. Police confirmed the animal's death this morning after the incident at 10pm on Tuesday, November 5.

The dog was struck by a blue BMW 1 series in Pennine Way, Stonydelph near to the junction with Wensleydale. Police say the vehicle "failed to stop" and members of the public tried to help the dog.

They have launched an appeal with a photo of the damage caused to the BMW and the debris left behind.

Tamworth Police confirmed: "At around 10pm on November 5, a blue BMW 1 series collided with a dog on Pennine Way, Stonydelph, near to the junction with Wensleydale.

"The vehicle failed to stop, and despite the efforts of kind-hearted members of the public, the dog sadly passed away. Significant damage was caused to the BMW and debris left behind.

"Obviously, this is a very upsetting time for the dog owner's family, and we would like to locate the person responsible.
