All we know about teenager stabbed to death in Marston Green 24 hours on

Work continues to investigate after a teenager was stabbed to death in Marston Green. Police and paramedics descended on a row of shops in Station Road, around 6.20pm, where they found the gravely injured 17-year-old.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, nothing could be done to save him. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody awaiting questioning.

As we approach 24 hours since the fatal attack, we will look back at what has happened and bring you the latest.

Where and when did the attack take place?

Around 6.20pm on Tuesday (Oct 29), a 17-year-old male was stabbed in Station Road, Marston Green. Paramedics, which included a trauma doctor, and police attended and sealed the scene outside Vape Minimarket.

The victim received advanced trauma care and advanced life support but unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff, nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

Officers cordoned off the site and detectives launched a murder investigation.

Who has been arrested?

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. He will be questioned by detectives.

The victim has not been officially name yet.

What have the police said?

West Midlands Police expressed their condolences and said their "thoughts remain firmly with the victim's family and loved ones at this truly tragic time."

Supt Wayne Carter, of Solihull Police, said: "We know people will understandably be concerned and we will be in the area conducting enquiries throughout the day.

"We will have extra officers in the area over the coming days and I would encourage anyone with any information, or concerns, to get in touch."

We are reviewing CCTV footage and making enquires and we are also appealing to any witnesses who haven't spoken to us yet, to come forward.

Has the scene reopened?

There has been an intensive police presence at the murder site all day. The cordon prohibiting entry to the shops was partially lifted around 5.30pm but some stores remains closed.

Station Road was closed in both directions from Holly Lane to Alcott Lane. It reopened and the number 72 is operating as normal.

What has the community said?

The victim has not been named but the public are understandably shocked and shaken by the loss of another young life to knife crime. They have been taking to social media to express their sadness and thoughts.

Kirsty Hall said: "Fresh out of school whole life ahead of him taken away and another two families ripped apart. When will this stop? From a personal experience, families never heal from such a tragic loss. Thoughts are with this young man's family ...heartbreaking."

Stacey Noonan posted: "So sad xx please everyone be nice to each other I hate all this x RIP"
