Birmingham city centre police probe after victim punched blind in 5am Broad Street attack

Police have launched an appeal for information after a man was punched blind in a Birmingham city centre street attack. The victim suffered life-changing injuries as he lost sight in one eye in the early hours assault.

West Midlands Police today issued two images of a man detectives "want to speak to" following the incident on September 8. Officers say the victim, aged in his 20s, was punched on Broad Street just before 5am.

He was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries. They have since been confirmed as "life-changing" as the victim has lost his sight in one of his eyes.

Members of the public with information have been urged to get in touch with police. The full appeal, shared to social media on Nov 6, read: "We want to speak to this man after another man has lost his sight in one eye following an attack in Birmingham city centre.

"The victim, aged in his 20s, was punched in Broad Street at just before 5am on 8 September.

"He was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries which have sadly proven life-changing. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote 20/826341/24."
