‘Murder’ arrest as Birmingham police investigate Ekrimh Mena’s ‘stabbing’ death in Lozells

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of 'murder' following the 'stabbing' death of Ekrimh Mena’a in Hunters Road, Lozells

Police investigating the death of a man in a ‘stabbing’ attack in a Birmingham street have arrested a person on suspicion of murder. Ekrimh Mena’a died after being found with stab wounds in Hunters Road, near the junction with Villa Road, in Lozells, shortly after midnight on Monday, September 30.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two paramedic officers, a MERIT (Medical Emergency Response Intervention Team) trauma team, a critical care paramedic and two ambulances attended the scene.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews found two injured men in a critical condition being cared for by police colleagues. Sadly, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff nothing could be done to save one man and he was confirmed deceased on scene. The second man was given advanced trauma care at the roadside before being blue lighted to hospital for further emergency care."

Now police have confirmed a 27-year-old man has been arrested on Wednesday (October 9) on suspicion of murder. He is being questioned about the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We have arrested a 27-year-old man as part of our investigation into the murder of Ekrimh Mena'a. The man was arrested today on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody while our enquiries continue.

“We are continuing to appeal for any information which could help in our investigation. Ekrimh Mena’a, aged 39, died after being found with stab wounds on Hunters Road, near the junction of Villa Road just before 12.25am last Monday (September 30).
