Tragedy as man dies after being pulled from Midlands river

A body has been recovered from a Midlands river, police have confirmed. An investigation is underway following the discovery.

The probe was launched after officers were called to a location near the River Soar to reports a man was in water. They attended Mill Lane, Leicester, along with other emergency services.

The incident happened around 7.30pm on Saturday, October 27. The person was later pulled from the river and taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary where he sadly passed away.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries to establish how he came to enter the water are continuing. It is not believed there was any third party involvement."

Detective Sergeant Vicki Hudson added: “We would like to speak to anyone who saw a man in the area or who saw the man enter the water. Any information or footage you can provide, for example from a dashcam, could help our investigation.”
