UK households issued £300 to help pay their energy bills

by · Birmingham Live

Households in the Midlands could receive up to £300 to help pay off their energy bills. The cash has been made available via the UK Government's Household Support Fund (HSF), which was set up to help residents with the cost of living.

The HSF was recently extended until March next year, allowing more people to access support. Local authorities have received cash from the HSF to benefit residents within their council areas.

Worcestershire County Council is handing out payments of up to £300 to help residents with their fuel bills. Eligible residents are those who reside permanently in Worcestershire, have a combined overall household income of no more than £31,000 before tax and have no household savings.

There must also be someone at the applicant's home who has some form of vulnerability such as a disability, a long term health condition or unmanageable debt. The fuel payment can support heating utilities such as those powered by electricity, gas, water, oil, LPG or solid fuel such as wood or coal.

Under the scheme, households with adults only, aged between 18 and 66, can receive up to £300. While households with one adult or a couple of pensionable age can receive up to £300.

And households with children under the age of 18, or young adults aged up to 21 who are in full time education, can receive up to £500. To apply to the scheme, visit here.
