Cloned VW stolen in carjacking found with 'multiple sets of plates' prompts arrest

West Midlands Police made an arrest after finding a cloned VW Golf stolen in a carjacking. Officers also discovered 'multiple sets of plates'.

Police said they made a stop at a petrol station using tactics to avoid a pursuit in Erdington. The driver was then arrested.

Officers found sets of plates linked to other crimes and checks found the car had been stolen in a carjacking. The police inquiry is ongoing.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, WMP Traffic posted today, Friday, October 25: "#RoadCrimeTeam officers stopped this cloned VW Golf R in Erdington using tactics to avoid a pursuit. The driver was arrested when we found multiple sets of plates linked to other crimes and checks found the car had been stolen in a car-jacking. @brumpolice."
