First picture of victim as murder-accused due to appear in court

This is the first picture of a woman at the centre of a murder probe after she died at a property in Coventry. West Midlands Police named her as 62-year-old Astra Sirapina.

West Midlands Police officers were called to a home on Burnaby Road on Tuesday, December 10. Ms Sirapina was found injured and died at the scene.

Arturs Putrasevics, 39, of no fixed address, was charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was due to appear at Coventry Magistrates' Court today, Thursday, December 12.

Police said in a statement: "We’ve charged a man with murder after a woman died at a property in Coventry. Astra Sirapina was found injured at an address on Burnaby Road on Tuesday.

"Sadly, the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts remain with Astra’s loved ones at this difficult time. Arturs Putrasevics, aged 39, of no fixed address, is due to appear before Coventry Magistrates Court today charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place."
