Labour as been urged to give 'clarity' over state pension compensation for women affected by historic injustices. The new Labour Party government has been urged to issue a key WASPI update over potential payouts worth an eye-watering £2950 as compensation following an Ombudsman report.

Emma Reynolds, the first minister in eight years to meet with Waspi campaigners, stated that the Government is "currently working through all aspects of the Ombudsman's final report along with the evidence provided during the investigation".

Labour MP Jonathan Hinder called for "clarity on compensation" and urged for a debate on the PHSO report's findings. He stated: "Women affected by the changes to the state pension age continue to wait for clarity on the compensation recommended by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman in its March report."

Lucy Powell, the leader of the House, acknowledged the report's significance, saying it requires "serious consideration by the Government". She added: "I know that it is frustrating, but Ministers are actively doing that as we speak. Of course, once they are ready to do so, they will come to the House with a full response."

Waspi coordinator Anne Potter said the nine-year battle for “justice” had taken a huge emotional toll on the women. She told STV News: “These women feel very strongly about the wait they’ve had to endure – at this stage in our lives, we are still having to demonstrate.

“Women are living frugally – and this is just the start of the winter. I think a lot of them will be suffering." The coordinator spoke out after a protest in London and went on to say: "We can’t wait any longer. We’ve waited a long time so far. It’s time they came up with a solution. We want that to happen as soon as possible. Compensate now.”
