Police hunt for man who kicked dog in head on High Street leaving it with brain damage

Police are hunting a man after a dog was kicked in the head, leaving it with brain damage. The shocking street attack happened in Leominster.

West Mercia Police said a man became tangled in a dog lead and fell to the ground on the High Street last month. The force said he then kicked the dog in the head before being pulled away by a member of public.

The man left area leaving the dog behind. Sadly it suffered brain damage and is now in the care of a rescue centre.

No arrests have been made and police inquiries are ongoing. In a statement, police said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after a dog was kicked in the head in Leominster. It’s not known when the attack took place but sometime in September a man was seen walking a dog on the High Street. The man became tangled in the lead and fell to the ground.

"He then began to kick the dog in the head before being pulled away by a member of public. The man left the area leaving the dog. The dog suffered brain damage and is now in the care of a rescue centre.

"Officers are aware of a group of girls who witnessed the attack and ask them to contact the police. They were not involved in the incident but may have information that may help. Please contact Detective Constable Emma Woodrow by emailing emma.woodrow@westmercia.police.uk
