Police have issued appeals to locate two prisoners who have escaped from a Derbyshire prison. Officers are searching for two men, Lee Hyde and Trevor Sherrington, after they left HMP Sudbury, near the A515 turn-off on the A50, on Tuesday (October 1) afternoon.

59-year-old Sherrington, who failed to return to the open prison at 4pm on Tuesday after a period of day release, was serving a sentence of five years and four months for GHB and was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court. He is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall, with closely cropped brown hair and blue eyes. He has two teardrop tattoos under his right eye.

Sherrington has links to Birmingham, Staffordshire, Sheffield and Hampshire and anyone with information should contact Derbyshire police with reference 978 of 1 October.

Lee Hyde left the same prison at 8.30pm on Tuesday. Hyde was serving an 81-month sentence for burglary and was convicted at Aylesbury Crown Court in June last year. The 25-year-old is white, around 6ft 1ins tall, of medium athletic build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He has a dragon tattoo on his right arm and has links to the Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex, Lincoln, and West Drayton (London) areas. Members of the public are asked not to approach Hyde, and instead contact Derbyshire police with reference 1159 of 1 October.
