Inside the former Chaddesden social club passed by thousands each day
It's a century old and it's now up for sale at £280,000
by Oscar Fisher · Derbyshire LiveA century-old former social club adorned with a vibrant turquoise colour scheme will be a recognisable sight for many Derby residents, particularly those who journey along Nottingham Road in Chaddesden each day. Chaddesden Lace Club has acted as a social club in the area for more than 100 years after being established in association with housing built for the employees of William Fletcher's Chaddesden Lace Works.
It has been listed for sale by Derby estate agent Salloway Property Consultants with a guide price of £280,000. The property features traditional masonry and is fitted with double-glazed windows and a pitched tile roof, with a flat roof to the rear showing the newer extension.
A spokesperson for Salloway said: "Internally, the ground floor provides the main bar and congregation area which comprises open plan space to the front of the property and a stage area to the rear. Male, female and disabled toilet facilities can be found off the main entrance hallway.
"A further function room is provided at first floor level which benefits from its own bar and toilet facilities, along with a separate admin office." There is also a small yard to the rear which can be used for extra storage and is easily accessible from Nottingham Road.
This historic social club could surely be given a new lease of life under new ownership. You can take a look inside this property in our photo gallery below.
