Emergency services responded to a concern for welfare call at the property in Salford at around 10.30am today, where they then discovered the bodies of the girl, eight, and a 40-year-old woman.

Police are 'working hard' to establish what happened

The two bodies were discovered in Salford following reports of concerns for their welfare, police say.

Greater Manchester Police say they are not actively looking for anyone else in relation to the investigation.
