Newcastle United fans to be given 'early access' to Sam Fender tickets but there's a catch

by · ChronicleLive

Newcastle United supporters will be given the chance to get 'early access' tickets to see Sam Fender at St James' Park next year, after the Brit Award winner confirmed he'll be returning to the stadium.

Cast your minds back to June 2003 and Fender Fever gripped the whole of Newcastle city centre, as town was a sea of black and white, pubs and bars were blasting Sam songs and Greggs was even turned into a live music venue in his honours, as the Seventeen Going Under singer and his band sold out St James' two nights in a row.

Fans had hoped that a return to SJP might be on the cards for Sam, especially after seeing tickets for his December 20 gig at the Utilita Arena become like gold dust, after they were made available through ballot only, when they went on sale last month. Well, their wishes were granted by the man himself on Friday, when he revealed he will be back at St James' Park on June 12 and 14.

Interest in Sam Fender at St James' Park is already huge, with information on how to get tickets quickly released, as well as Sam's support acts and news of a pre-sale. The official Sam pre-sale will be via his website, but there will also be an O2 one and one specific to NUFC fans.

However, the pre-sale, launching on Thursday, November 28, won't be open to all Newcastle United members; instead it will be for mag+ subscribers only - those who pay £47 a year for their membership.

News of the 'exclusive' perk hasn't gone down too well online, with one Fender fan reacting: "Nothing for season ticket holders once again then" as another complained: "Nowt for season ticket holders again? Shocking decision by the club"
