Sunderland Christmas lights switch on sees Black Cats players bring in festive season

The Sunderland Christmas lights switch on saw Black Cats players bring in the festive season in the city.The SAFC players were joined by the Mayor of Sunderland, panto stars and Hits Radio's Steve and Karen at the event in Keel Square.

The footballers in attendance on Thursday were; Wilson Isidor, Chris Rigg, Aaron Connolly, Eleanor Dale and Ellen Jones. Matthew Wolfenden, Miss Rory and Tom Whalley, who are starring in this years Jack and the Beanstalk panto at the Sunderland Empire, also took part in the event.

The Mayor of Sunderland, Cllr Allison Chisnall, said: "The annual Christmas Switch-On marks the start of the city's countdown to the big day. It's something that families from across Sunderland and beyond really look forward to each year.

"It was wonderful to see so many people braving the bitter temperatures to enjoy the Christmas Switch-On, and I'm delighted that the Blacks Cats players and panto stars were able to join in to make the evening even more special for everyone who came along. It’s always great to see them supporting events in the city.
