Cian and Sam Prendergast relationships, rugby careers and future

Today’s Ireland versus Figi rugby match had the Irish team celebrating an enormous victory with the scores being 52 to Ireland and 17 to Figi by the end of the match.

Playing in the Aviva stadium this evening were rugby brothers-duo Cian and Sam Prendergast who helped bring the team to victory.

The older of the two is Cian who is 24 years old and plays as a flanker.

When growing up in Kildare, Cian played rugby with Newbridge RFC at mini’s level.

He was captain of his school team as well as the Leinster school’s team in 2018.

The 24-year-old was contacted by the Connacht academy in 2020 where he made his senior debut.

It was revealed in March 2021 that he had committed to a professional contract with the team. He received the title of club captain prior to the 2024–2025 season.

Cian was then named a development player in the Irish squad for the Six Nations Championship in 2022.

Cian appears to be in a long-term relationship, as he has been posting photos to his Instagram page with a Roisin McConnon since 2017, with their most recent post being from January of this year.

Born in 2003, Sam is 21 years old and plays as a fly-half on the senior Irish rugby squad.

He played club rugby at both Newbridge RFC and Lansdowne FC and then joined the Leinster academy in 2022.

He was then awarded player of the match for his debut in the United Rugby Championship against the Lions in 2023.

In 2022, Sam made his debut for the Ireland under-20 team. Later, BBC Sport named him one of the 2023 under-20 Six Nations tournament's top players.

He made his senior debut as a second half substitute for Ireland's match against Argentina in November 2024 after being called up to the senior Ireland team.

Sam celebrated receiving his first cap last week on Instagram in a post with a photo of his girlfriend captioned “Special week getting my first cap”.

His girlfriend’s name is Anna Walsh and the two have been posting together since 2022.

The siblings appear to have a very bright future in rugby ahead of them.
