Rob Lipsett was offered four times the amount he paid for bargain Spanish villa after stunning reno

If you’ve ever thought of owning a home abroad, you might want to take some inspiration from fitness influencer Rob Lipsett.

Rob bagged himself a bargain when he purchased a villa in the high end region of Marbella. Although it was in need of a refresh, Rob could see its incredible potential.

Speaking to RSVP Home, Rob explained: “We had a friend who works in property here and this place went on the market and it was just the most crazy offer ever.

“The previous owners were in their 80s from the Netherlands and they didn’t have internet. I don’t think they understood the general price of what a detached villa with a swimming pool goes for in Marbella.

“We went and looked at it and there were Ferraris and Lambos outside, people richer than me trying to buy it. Because we’re friends with everyone in the office, the broker goes, ‘Look, if you give us 10 grand today, even though loads of people are making an offer, we’ll just give it to you’. So I was like, yes, no brainer. This place was well under a million. We bought it the day it went live”.

Rob quickly got to work renovating the place with a substantial budget of about €90,000.

“We had to do a huge down payment first because when we were getting a mortgage, they’re like, ‘One, you’re a foreigner and two, you’ve a very strange job. You’re a YouTuber, entrepreneur, self-employed’.

“So we had to do a 50% cash down payment. Then all I cared about was getting the keys. We got quotes from 10 different renovation companies and we simply went with the cheapest one that turned out to be absolutely fantastic.

“My budget was around €91,000 and these guys were just straight in the next day knocking everything down and stripping the place. I’ve learned how to speak and understand a little bit of Spanish”.

It safe to say Rob and the local workmen did an incredible job and the luxurious villa is now valued and four times the price he bought it for.

“Someone tried to buy it last month, I was just chilling in my garden and I heard a bang on the gate. It was two British women from Marbella Dream Living, a real estate agent down the road, and they go, ‘We’ve someone that wants to buy it. We saw it on Instagram and we figured out where it is’.

“They had a look around and said they have this buyer that had seen it online – they offered €1.8million which is three, four times what I originally bought it for. I said no. I can’t imagine living anywhere else because I’ve made it a little fitness productivity hub for myself”.
