The sport of kings — the one that is neither horse-racing nor hunting — is now officially the sport of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are bringing us our next Netflix sports-docuseries obsession, “Polo.”

On Thursday, Netflix released the trailer for the five-episode docuseries premiering on December 10, 2024 — you can watch it below.

“Polo” is described as a “behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced and glamorous world of polo” that “follows elite global players on and off the field as they compete in the high-stakes U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida.”

“Through fierce rivalries and intense training, viewers will get an unprecedented glimpse into the dedication and skill required to compete at the sport’s highest level,” the official synopsis continues. “From a young player pushed to his limits by his demanding father, to a former golfer who’s made significant sacrifices for the love of the sport, to the father-son duo widely regarded as the greatest players of all time — they all face intense personal and professional challenges as they vie for the coveted title.”

Harry and Meghan executive produce the docuseries for their Archewell Productions, as does Chanel Pysnik. For Boardwalk Pictures, the EPs are Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, and Sarina Roma; other executive producers are Miloš Balać, Ian Samplin, and Natalie Doerr Weresow.

“This series offers audiences an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into the passion and determination driving some of the world’s elite Polo players, revealing the grit behind the glamour,” Prince Harry said in a statement. “We’re proud to showcase the true depth and spirit of the sport — and the intensity of its high-stakes moments.”

Below are the docuseries’ featured athletes, with bios provided by Netflix.

Adolfo Cambiaso, Team Valiente: Cambiaso is widely regarded as one of the greatest polo players of all time. With a career spanning over three decades, he has amassed numerous championships, including the Argentine Open and the U.S. Open Polo Championship. The 2024 U.S. Open is particularly special as Cambiaso faces his son, Poroto Cambiaso, in their first high-goal final against each other on American soil.

Poroto Cambiaso, Team La Dolfina: Known for his exceptional talent, Poroto is an emerging polo star and the son of legendary Adolfo Cambiaso. At just 17 years old, Poroto became the youngest player ever to achieve a 10 goal handicap.

Louis Devaleix, Team La Fe: Devaleix only started playing in 2020 at the age of 38 and, despite his recent entry into the sport, he won the notable East Coast Open in 2022. Devaleix is married to Pamela Flanagan Devaleix, a U.S. Open champion polo player, and the couple is expecting their first child together throughout the course of the series.

Timmy Dutta, Team Dutta Corp: A talented young player, Dutta works hard to earn the respect and recognition of his tough love father and team owner, ‘Big Tim Dutta.’ Dutta takes his commitment to the sport seriously, prioritizing the barn and training over his social life.

Keko Magrini, Team Coca-Cola: Emerging on the scene at 16 years old in 2021, Magrini continued his exceptional play into early 2022, winning the inaugural U.S. Junior Open. Magrini is often supported by his father, Matias Magrini, and his brother, Santino, forming a dynamic intergenerational trio of polo players. Keko Magrini, along with Timmy Dutta and Poroto Cambiaso, are the new generation of the sport, bringing sharper skills and more fearless risk-taking to each match.

Nacho Figueras: Figueras, who is featured in the series as an expert and also serves as consulting producer, is a renowned Argentine polo player, model and philanthropist, with numerous victories under his belt.
