The Chase's Mark Labbett says 'I'm done' as he gives up in final showdown
by Jennie Buzaglo, Shivon Watson · NottinghamshireLiveMark Labbett, also known as The Beast, faced a challenging episode on ITV's The Chase. In Tuesday's episode, he squared off against contestants Chris, Sonia, Clementine and Mark.
History teacher Chris started the game strong, answering six questions correctly in the cash builder round. Despite being tempted by a high offer of £40,000, Chris chose to stick with his original sum of £6,000.
However, The Beast managed to close the gap and knock Chris out of the game. Next up was 64 year old Sonia, an office manager who only answered two questions correctly in the cash builder, leading her to accept The Beast's low offer of £1,000.
Sonia became the first contestant in the final chase, leaving Clementine hoping to follow suit. The 20 year old demonstrated impressive knowledge, earning £5,000 in the initial round.
Rejecting both higher and lower offers from The Beast, she stuck with the £5,000 and made it through to the final chase. The last contestant to face The Beast was 58 year old Mark, reports the Mirror.
Understanding the importance of joining his teammates in the final chase, Mark declined the high offer, sticking with the £4,000 he earned in his cash builder. Mark successfully made it through to the final chase, setting up a real challenge for The Beast.
In the thrilling final round, the team answered 17 questions correctly, but host Bradley Walsh suggested they might not have built a big enough lead. Chaser Mark Labbett, aka 'The Beast', started strong but then struggled, allowing the team to gain ground with several pushbacks.
With only three questions left and just eight seconds remaining, Mark was under pressure. As the clock ticked down to two seconds, he admitted defeat, and the contestants celebrated their £10,000 win.
"Oh my word. I am done here, so well played guys," Mark quipped as the game ended.
