The Canadian Outrigger Racing Association is excited to welcome the 2024 Canadian Outrigger Distance Championships to Penticton.

On Sept. 28 and 29, the event will bring together paddlers from Canada and beyond together at Okanagan Lake Park to tackle both short and long courses and races.

The weekend promises to be full of thrilling competition, featuring local teams those from as far away as Hawaii and California.

“We are excited to bring the Canadian Outrigger Distance Championships to Penticton,” said Ronald Chin, president of CORA.

“This event not only showcases the incredible talent of our paddlers but also highlights the beauty and hospitality of the Okanagan region. We look forward to a fantastic weekend of racing and camaraderie.”

They are expecting around 70 teams participating.

"The opportunity to showcase the Okanagan, plus highlight Canadian Outrigger Racing is immense," said Don Mulhall, racer director.

"We hope to see lots of spectators down at the pier for the start"
