SKSS wins first Chow Cup

They’ll certainly remember this one.

The South Kamloops Titans dominated the Westsyde Whundas in the second half of the high school football city championship game on Saturday to take home the Chow Cup, which was awarded for the first time.

Wearing throwback Kam High jerseys, the Titans best the Whundas 34-13 in a thrilling second-half comeback at the SKSS field.

The city championship, previously called the Wendy’s Cup, had been defunct for more than 20 years, On Saturday, it made its triumphant return as the Chow Cup, named after longtime local football coach Darryl Chow.

The Titans rallied from a 13-10 deficit at halftime, scoring three consecutive second-half touchdowns, each accompanied by a two-point conversion, to earn the title.

Chow presented the trophy to a jubilant Titans team, which paraded the hardware around the field and posed for a photo in the end zone.

Chow began his career coaching at Valleyview secondary in 1974 and has spent 50 years coaching in the community, including at South Kamloops secondary, Valleyview secondary, Westsyde secondary, the Kamloops Cowboys and Kamloops Broncos.
