Thierry Henry points out something most missed with Amad's dramatic Man Utd winner
Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday thanks to a late goal from Amad and the youngster's matchwinning moment has now been expertly broken down by Thierry Henry
by Dan Marsh · The MirrorThierry Henry has sent fans on social media into a frenzy with his astute analysis of Amad's winning goal in the Manchester derby.
The Manchester United winger was the hero in Sunday's match at The Etihad after plundering a 90th minute strike. His goal came less than two minutes after Bruno Fernandes had drawn United level from the penalty spot, capping a superb turnaround.
Amad has been one of United's most impressive players since Ruben Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag at the helm last month - and he earned special praise from Henry for the way he managed to net his all important goal at the weekend.
Dissecting the goal, the Frenchman told Sky Sports: "I didn't think United would score. [Amad] goes early but he checks to see if he's offside, he's never going to be offside because Ruben Dias is covering.
"But he does something very important. When that ball goes over his head, if he carries on looking at the ball he will never get it but he stops looking at it and looks at where the ball is going to bounce that's the only way he could get the ball.
"He knows he will get it only after the bounce. If he looks at it he will lose it."
Fans on social media couldn't get enough of Henry's analysis, with some even branding the former Arsenal man a genius. One social media user posted: "Wonderful analysis by Thierry Henry. No doubt Amad is special."
Another user said on X: "Thierry Henry commenting on Amad Diallo’s winner is just pure poetry," while a third account purred: "Incredible analysis from Thierry Henry on Amad’s winner."

Henry's Sky Sports colleague, Jamie Carragher, also waxed lyrical about the Ivorian youngster's finish, adding: "He's in mid-air there, to control that with the tip of the boot when he's actually in mid-air.
"This is one of the best pieces of skill you'll see this season to make the run, follow the ball, the eye movement, to the bounce and then to control the ball round the goalkeeper.
"That eye contact and that stillness of waiting for the ball to come down in that pressure moment, last minute of a derby game."
