Liverpool boss Arne Slot provides Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley injury updates

Arne Slot admits he is not sure if Ibrahima Konate or Conor Bradley will be fit for Sunday’s crunch clash with Manchester City.

The Liverpool boss revealed the pair are being assessed after picking up injuries against Real Madrid on Wednesday night. But Trent Alexander-Arnold, who watched from the bench, is fit to start against champions City.

The Reds head coach said: “Still being assessed so difficult to see where they are in terms of the injury. Let’s wait and see but it is never a good sign.

"Conor I had to take him off and Ibou didn’t walk off the pitch as he should after such a fantastic game he had, he should have made a round and clapped the fans.

“It is so close after the game last night so I can’t tell you exactly where they are this weekend and after that.” But when asked if Alexander-Arnold has recovered from a hamstring injury to start against City, Slot said: “Yes.”

There is no update yet if Alisson will be fit to play with Caoimhin Kelleher continuing to shine in his absence. The Brazilian has been out since early October with a hamstring injury but when he does return it will likely mean Kelleher returns to the bench.

That may be hard to take for the Irishman, who saved a penalty from Kylian Mbappe in the 2-0 win over Real on Wednesday night. But Slot said it is too early to even consider if Kelleher will want to leave next summer.

He said: “I am expecting every player wants to be the No 1 not only in the goalkeeper position and it is always up to every player if he can accept his role Caoimh has accepted his from the start of the season until now in a great way.

“It is far too early to talk about what would happen next season. I want every player to want to play every game.

“It would be completely wrong if he were to say I want to be on the bench today. They should have eagerness to play but if they don’t they should act in a normal way.”
