Georgie Thompson was once known as the face of Sky Sports News to many, but what does the iconic former presenter do these days?

Football fans will get a sharp blast of nostalgia when they recall tuning into the channel and seeing Thompson delivering the latest news from the world of sport. For over a decade, Georgie became a household name thanks to her stint on Sky Sports News until she left in 2011.

Since then, she has remained in the limelight working on several different shows and has reported on numerous sports. She also tied the knot with Olympic legend, and the UK's most successful ever sailor, Sir Ben Ainslie.

Now referred to as Lady Ainslie, many fans may not know that the legendary broadcaster is now worth a staggering £8million, according to Famous Networth. The 46-year-old has also spent time working in the USA and now runs a popular podcast with her sporting hero beau.

Thompson began her career by working as a production assistant for GMTV. She then got the break of a lifetime as she joined Sky Sports in January 2001. It was at Sky that Georgie covered a host of major sporting events.

Viewers will be familiar with Georgie presenting US Open Tennis, F1, Speedway World Cup, the America's Cup and even the 2011 Wimbledon Championships. However, it will be her stretch on the Sky Sports News, where she was often seen hosting 'Afternoon Report', that people may remember most.

During her time with Sky, she was also a panellist on Sky One's, A League of Their Own. After she departed from news hosting duties, Georgie became a full-time presenter on Sky Sports F1.

During the 2012 season Thompson presented The F1 Show alongside pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz and, during race weekends, she took the reins on the Sky Pad segment. However, 2013 saw Georgie take the plunge and move to America.

It was in the US where she took up a gig with Fox Sports, and in 2013, became a panellist on Regis Philbin's sports talk show Crowd Goes Wild. The show lasted just over a year and she later found her way back to the UK to take on presenting duties for Radio 5 Live show, Fighting Talk.

While Georgie was beloved for her insight and humour when it came to bringing sport to the masses, her love life also caught the eye. She was involved in a romance with Declan Donnelly of Ant and Dec fame for three years before she met and made it official with Britain's finest sailor.

Sir Ben, 47, became a certified Olympic legend when he clinched gold at four consecutive Games in the event. He also managed to bag a silver on his final Games in London 2012 becoming the Games' most successful ever sailor.

The match has been a dream pairing, despite Georgie once claiming she’d never date a sportsman "because it would only bring me grief". However, speaking about her romance with Sir Ben to The Mail in 2013, she claims that the pair's meeting was "a thunderbolt moment".

Georgie conceded the pair were originally "in different places" but then "the stars aligned" for the couple to really hit it off. They married in December 2014 and now share two children, a daughter, Bellatrix, in 2016 and a son, Fox, who was born in 2021.

Clearly a marriage that works both personally and professionally, Georgie and Sir Ben's podcast, Performance People, has been a big hit. Since starting the show they have seen starry names such as Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff, marathon legend Paula Radcliffe and Hollywood star Stanley Tucci all stop by to appear on the pod.
