Two football legends rushed to help Ian Wright with fall down stairs 'concerning onlookers'
Ian Wright had a fall following the draw for the Women's 2025 Euros, with the Arsenal legend having been acting as host seven weeks after undergoing knee surgery
by Jacob Leeks · The MirrorItaly legend Leonardo Bonucci and German World Cup winner Sami Khedira rushed to help Ian Wright after the Arsenal icon had a fall following the Women's Euros draw.
Wright was hosting the draw for next year's tournament at the Swiss Tech Convention Centre in Lausanne. The 61-year-old had undergone knee surgery seven weeks ago, which left him using a wheelchair.
He was back on his feet for the draw, which was held in Switzerland on Monday. The central European country will host the tournament next year, with England going into it as defending champions.
Wright is a well-known supporter of women's football and has regularly worked as a pundit on England and WSL games. He was brought in by UEFA to anchor Monday's draw alongside Swiss presenter Annette Fetscherin.
But there was a scary moment for Wright following the conclusion of the draw. According to the Daily Mail, the former striker slipped down some steps, which onlookers left 'concerned'.
Bonucci and Khedira, who had been conducting the draw itself raced over to help Wright. Medics gave the Gunners legend an ice pack and he is understood to be well and in good spirits.
Wright is also thought to be thankful for the help of Bonucci and Khedira. He previously met the Italian during filming of the latest season of The Overlap On Tour, during which Bonucci hosted Wright, Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville and Roy Keane in Turin.

Despite his fall, Wright was able to fly back to Manchester as planned on Tuesday morning. Wright brushed off the accident with a post on Instagram in which he shared pictures from the event.
He wrote: "Special night co-hosting the Euro 2025 draw with Annette Fetscherin. England drawn in Group D with France, Netherlands and Wales." Posts on his Instagram story showed Wright grinning behind the scenes of the draw for the 16-team tournament.
It will take place across eight venues in Switzerland from July 2 to 27 next year. Defending champions England have been drawn in Group D alongside France, Wales and the Netherlands.
Lionnesses boss Sarina Wiegman said: "The draw was nice. The group is tough! These are the facts and we knew how the pots were that it would be difficult anyway. The women's game is developing so quickly so I don't think there are easy things any more.
"We have to be ready for every single game. The women's game has changed. Before we went to the qualifiers for the World Cup, it was kind of easy. Sometimes you could predict if you were going to win. In sport it's really good when it's unpredictable because that's the exciting bit about it."
