Alexandre Lacazette response to Bukayo Saka three-word Arsenal statement speaks volumes

Alexandre Lacazette has given a clear response to a Bukayo Saka message following the latter's role in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The Gunners had gone four Premier League games without a victory prior to Saturday's triumph with Mikel Arteta's side losing ground in the title race as a result.

Reigning champions Manchester City have also faltered recently with their poor run of form hitting a new low point following a 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham. In the meantime, Liverpool have been flying and following a late comeback win against Southampton, now sit eight points clear at the top.

With that being said, following returns for Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal appear to be getting much closer to their very best. After just 15 minutes, Saka finished off a superb run with a thumping finish beyond Mats Sels before turning provider for Thomas Partey's long-range strike.

Ethan Nwaneri, off the bench, then added a third by slotting home Raheem Sterling's cutback. Having scored just once in their last three games, it would have certainly been nice for Arteta to see his side back at their vibrant best, however a first Premier League clean sheet in over two months would have likely pleased him more.

Even in the absence of Ben White, Arsenal prevented Forest from having a single shot on target with just 0.33 xG conceded. Limiting opponents to scraps starts from the front however, with Odegaard and Saka leading the press which has seen the latter make a big statement on social media.

"Back on track," he simply wrote as the caption to an Instagram post which included pictures of him celebrating. Plenty of Arsenal fans were in the replies praising his performance with former Arsenal star Lacazette also making his thoughts clear in the replies with a heart, star and flame emoji.

Lacazette and Saka spent a few seasons alongside each other in the senior team before the former's return to Lyon. The 33-year-old has scored an impressive 60 goals since heading back to France in the summer of 2022 but his plans for the future may have been derailed.

Earlier this month it was announced that Lyon have been provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 unless their finances drastically improve.
