Mykhailo Mudryk sends perfect four-word response as Chelsea continue winning run

Chelsea news as Mykhailo Mudryk has reacted to another fine win for the Blues after they beat Belgian side Gent in the Conference League

Mykhailo Mudryk has sent a perfect four-word message to the Chelsea supporters after their 4-2 win over Gent on Thursday. Goals from Renato Veiga, Pedro Neto, Christopher Nkunku and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall helped the Blues secure their fifth successive victory in all competitions.

Although he didn't find the scoresheet, Mudryk created Chelsea's first of the evening. His looping cross from the right was met by Veiga, who directed the ball back across goal and into the corner. Apart from that, Mudryk looked sharp throughout and showed why he could be in contention for more minutes.

After the game, Mudryk posted a simple message on social media, displaying his love and support for this current Chelsea team. In an Instagram story - which was accompanied with an image of him celebrating alongside his teammates - Mudryk said: "Proud of this team."

It does feel like the Ukrainian is showing small signs of improvement under Enzo Maresca. Before the Carabao Cup tie against Barrow last month, the Italian challenged Mudryk to "do better" and he has since put in a couple of good performances. That is not expected to be enough for him to displace Jadon Sancho ahead of Sunday's game against Nottingham Forest, but Mudryk is certainly pushing to be back in that first-choice XI.

The same can be said about several players who starred against Genk. Yes, the standard of opposition is sterner in the Premier League, but Dewsbury-Hall, Veiga and Nkunku were among the others to impress for the Blues in their first game of the new Europa Conference League format.

Reflecting on the performance, Maresca said in his post-match press conference: "We are performing not only in attack but defensively very well. We are happy. I need to repeat always the same: For sure, we can do many, many things better - we can attack better and defend better. Tonight probably the most important thing we can learn is even if we are 4-1 [up], even to the final whistle you have to switch on, you cannot switch off.

"I think we conceded the second goal just because we saw the game was already finished. I think if we want to be one step forward, even when you are 4-1 and the game is almost finished, you need to continue and not concede another goal. We are really happy with the performance. We approached it very well. These games are never easy. So I am very happy with the performance and the result."
