Chelsea star Cole Palmer had a bizarre reaction as tempers flared in their Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon - and it has gone viral on social media.

With the scores level, Forest were reduced to ten men with 12 minutes remaining when James Ward Prowse was dismissed. This led to an onslaught from the Blues as they pushed for a winner.

However, in the closing stages, both sets of players were involved in a coming together by the touchline after Forest defender Neco Williams appeared to push Marc Cucurella into Enzo Maresca. With the Chelsea manager then sprawled out on the floor, he alleges that an un-named Forest player attempted to kick him which sparked chaotic scenes.

In the flurry of drama, fan footage picked up Nicolas Jackson appearing to raise his hand Forest's Morato. VAR is believed to have checked that incident and deemed it to not have reached the threshold for violent conduct so the Chelsea player remained on the field.

While that was all kicking off, perhaps the coolest man on the pitch was (unsurprisingly) Palmer. In reverse camera footage on social media, the former Manchester City forward can be seen looking over at the pushing and shoving and deciding to have a sit down on the floor rather than become embroiled in the row.

Perhaps this decision was wise from Palmer particularly, as it remains to be seen if any punishments will be dished out retrospectively to players involved in the incident. Chelsea could do without Palmer or Jackson being handed a suspension after their positive starts to the season - while Palmer's importance is unquestioned.
