Latest Arsenal injury news with five doubts amid Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard updates
by James Quinlan · football.londonMikel Arteta will be hoping Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard overcome their latest injury doubts in time to line up for Arsenal against Nottingham Forest, otherwise the manager is going to face problems.
The season so far has not been kind to Arsenal and the November international break has been no different. As players such as Saka pulled out of duties for their countries, Trossard provided a new worry whilst away with Belgium.
It was during a Nations League clash with Israel on Sunday he was substituted early with a knock, the consequence of which is thought to be 'severe bruising'. The Daily Mail claim he is 'recovering' though there is hope he will be passed fit for Forest.
As for those that remained at Colney over the break, the Mail's report also discloses that Saka 'is in a race against time' to make Saturday's squad. The 23-year-old was removed from the action with a limp during the Gunners' last game against Chelsea.
"It doesn’t look good, because for two players of that importance to tell you they cannot continue in the game [versus Chelsea], obviously it’s not good news," Arteta reacted at the time.
The other player he was referencing there was Declan Rice. The midfielder also missed England duty this November after he went off in the clash at Stamford Bridge having been nursing a broken toe beforehand, so it remains to be seen if he will be brought back so quickly.
One player who has looked in line to return is Kieran Tierney. The full-back has not featured for Arsenal since August 2023, due to his Real Sociedad loan followed by his recent hamstring problem.
Having been spotted in training on Wednesday he seems to be in contention, especially if Takehiro Tomiyasu and Riccardo Calafiori are to continue in their own absences. Each have suffered knee injuries in October so are on a similar path to fitness.
The last of four defensive problems is Ben White, though unfortunately he can no longer be considered a doubt. The 27-year-old underwent minor surgery last week to correct the joint issue that has plagued him, so faces an unknown timescale on the sidelines.
