Chelsea handed fresh Levi Colwill concern after Leicester as double update issued
by Keifer MacDonald, Tom Coley · football.londonChelsea have been left sweating over the fitness of defender Levi Colwill after he was seen receiving extensive treatment after Saturday's 2-1 win at Leicester City. The Blues moved back up to third in the Premier League table after goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez proved too much for the Foxes to deal with at the King Power Stadium.
However, they have been left feeling the full effect of their visit to the East Midlands as Cowill appeared to suffer a knock in the closing seconds of the win. The England international was in such discomfort that he fell to the ground immediately after referee Andy Madley blew the full-time whistle and was quickly treated by the club's medical staff.
Colwill eventually made it back to his feet and headed over to the 3,000 Chelsea supporters in the away end before walking gingerly down the tunnel. The 21-year-old has started all 12 of Chelsea's Premier League games this season.
He also withdrew from the England squad over the international break after picking up a knock during the draw to Arsenal. Luckily for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca, Colwill's pain appeared to be unrelated.
"Levi didn't feel well in the night and this morning," the head coach explained. "He could play and finish the game, but hopefully it's nothing."
Next up for Chelsea is a visit to Bundesliga side Heidenheim on Thursday before their Premier League campaign continues with the visit of Aston Villa on Sunday. They will be hopeful of having both Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto back for those games after they missed the win at Leicester.
"Malo was with us but during the night he didn't feel well," Maresca said afterwards. "Pedro had a problem with the international team and we didn't want to take any risks."
