Chelsea injury news and return dates as Enzo Maresca dealt four major blows before Heidenheim
by Jake Stokes · football.londonChelsea returned to winning ways at the weekend, but Enzo Maresca was dealt a number of injury blows. The Blues cruised past Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, retaining third place in the Premier League.
Nicolas Jackson fired Chelsea ahead inside the opening quarter of an hour before Enzo Fernandez doubled the lead in the second half. Despite enjoying the lion's share of possession and taking far more shots, the West Londoners couldn't capitalise on their dominance.
In the dying embers of the clash, Jordan Ayew pulled one back for the Foxes from the penalty spot. After the game, it later transpired that Levi Colwill was nursing an illness. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up all the latest Arsenal injury news and return dates.
Reece James
Shortly after returning from the treatment room, Reece James suffered another hamstring injury.
What Maresca said last week: "Unfortunately he felt something small and we don’t want to take any risks this weekend. He’s the only one who for sure is unavailable this week. It’s a hamstring. It’s a muscle problem. We don’t want to take any risks for this weekend."
What Maresca said after the Leicester game: "We didn't have any update on Reece. We still have to wait for some day when he is going to do a scan again and we will see."
Potential return date: Unknown
Levi Colwill
Levi Colwill was spotted receiving treatment from medical staff after the Leicester game.
What Maresca said: "Exactly the same as Malo. He didn't feel very well during the night and this morning. But he could play, finish the game, and hopefully it is nothing important."
Potential return date: Aston Villa (H) – Premier League – Sunday, December 1
Pedro Neto
Pedro Neto suffered a knock during the international break with Portugal.
What Maresca said: "Pedro, he had a problem with his international team. There was a chance he could be with us but we didn't take any risks for this game and, hopefully, he can be available for the next game."
Potential return date: Heidenheim (A) – Conference League – Thursday, November 28
Malo Gusto
Malo Gusto also missed the Leicester game due to illness.
What Maresca said: "Malo was with us but during the night, he unfortunately did not feel well in terms of ill."
Potential return date: Heidenheim (A) – Conference League – Thursday, November 28
