'It was chaos!' - Tottenham star opens up on nightmare international break training session
by Amie Wilson · football.londonTottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall has revealed that Sweden had to abandon training and change their plans following torrential rain in Spain.
The Spurs man and his international teammates were taking part in a training camp in Marbella this week ahead of their Nations League clashes against Slovakia and Azerbaijan. Sweden host the former on Saturday, before welcoming Azerbaijan on Tuesday night.
While on the training camp in Spain, members of the Sweden squad were said to have received a red weather warning on their phones on Tuesday night. That didn’t stop training starting as normal on Wednesday, with images of a rainy session being shared on social media.
However, talking to fotballskanalen Bergvall has described the ‘chaos’ that ensued. “It was chaos. Rain chaos. With thunder and all that. We had to stop early,” he said.
It seems that the weather passed for Thursday’s session, with pictures again being shared as preparations for the Nations League double continued. Sweden have since returned to Stokholm ahead of the games.
Bergvall will be looking to earn his first start for his nation in either of the games. But he may have to settle for an appearance from the bench. In the last international break he was an unused substitute for the 2-2 draw against Slovakia before being left out of the matchday squad altogether for the 3-0 win over Estonia.
The 18-year-old is struggling for regular game time for Spurs too. He has been an unused substitute for the last five Premier League games and is yet to start in the league since moving from Djurgarden in the summer.
